Here is a link to a blog about a PA lawsuit.

http://new-york-chiropractor.blogspot.com/2006/11/new-york-chiropractor-drx-_116302912928615802.html

Below is an excerpt from the blog:

"During daylong seminars at its Tampa headquarters, Axiom executives and consultant Dr. Ben Altadonna tell chiropractors from across the country that spinal decompression is the road to riches. In a workshop called "How to make an additional $35,000-$50,000 per month, Cash!!" Altadonna presents success lessons from Harry Houdini and testimonials from satisfied customers like one doctor, quoted in marketing materials as saying "I collected $22,000 JUST TODAY!!!! This is some wild ride Ben Altadonna, thanks for inviting me."Dr. Eric Liners, a chiropractor in Salinas, Calif., attended one of Altadonna's seminars at Axiom's office in late February 2005 with about 40 chiropractors. In a lawsuit filed against Axiom and its finance company in March, Liners said Altadonna projected that his practice's profit could increase to $1.76-million over five years with an Axiom machine.According to the complaint, which was filed in U.S. District Court in eastern Pennsylvania, at the end of the seminar Liners agreed to buy a machine for $125,000. However, the chiropractor claimed the device repeatedly malfunctioned and "physically molested Liners Chiropractic's patients.""Virtually all of the patients placed in treatment showed no objective signs of favorable response," the lawsuit said, adding, "Axiom's financial projections ... proved grossly misleading."After four months, Axiom removed the machine from Liners' practice; the lawsuit erupted after the leasing company sued the chiropractor for failing to continue making payments. Liners voluntarily dismissed his claim against Axiom shortly after it was filed and in April the remaining parties reached a confidential settlement. In a written statement, Axiom's attorney, L. Joseph Shaheen, Jr., said the company "has asserted that Liners' claims were untrue and frivolous."Crespo, the Tampa doctor, said marketing spinal decompression as a money-maker is a mistake."

I think this part about Altadonna is "Robert Cialdini" not "Houdini".
Google "Robert Cialdini" he is very respected.

Also it is my understanding that Altadonna simply created marketing materials that had Axiom's claims in question...that is why he warned doctors about Axiom's claims and immediately stopped promoting axiom's workshops.

I met Ben Altadonna; he is a good guy and has thousands of doctors nationwide that sing his praises.

I found his site:www.BenAltadonna.com

I bet you are right. I think Axiom Worldwide is really who is to blame. Dr. Altadonna got his information from them. He was lied to like the rest of the purchasers of the DRX.

I'd agree.
Altadonna's always been a solid resource for our clinic and it seemed very clear that once he realized Axiom was not straight with him or his members he sent us repeated notification to stop using the drx marketing stuff.
I've met him a bunch of times and he seems like a stand up guy.

and you're right his site is UGLY!

I don't think for one second that Ben Altadonna had anything to do with this. He was straight forwar with all of us when he caught wind of the false claims issue. The DRX9000 has been great to me. I use it to enhance my chiropractic practice. Give Altadonna a break. He is a great guy and means well.

Obveously, there was a lot of hype surrounding the DRX9000 and spinal decompression. Axiom Made all sorts of claims regarding it's product, that were very missleading to all those involved. However, at the same time the results in my office were excellent, this form of treatment changed many patient's lives after years of suffering. I know that Ben Altadonna was given the same information as everyone else, and created a marketing program around the info he was provided. I completely trust Ben and know that he was just used by Axiom to get to his large data base of members.

In my office the product worked well and helped many people that had failed all other courses of care. I got the same product and marketing material as everyone else, and the results have been great.

Ben went out of his way to contact me and tell me to stop using his marketing material as soon as he became aware of false info that he had gotten from Axiom. At that point we changed our marketing and continued to do well.

Lets be clear, success or failure falls at the feet of the DC. I and many others I know have been and continue to be very successfull with the DRX9000.

Oh, and on the issue of Ben's marketing style. You may not like it, but it works and amazingly well. The true measure of good marketing is does it produce patients in the door. You see it doesn't matter what you think about it. What matters is does it produce.

I guarantee that the person that said Ben should be sued just because of his website, is a failure in practice financially, and wants to blame someone else. Look in the mirror.

I think Ben is somewhat of a victim as well.

I also think that some of you are missing what the point is.

Yes the DRX9000 can get people out of pain, BUT...

:: does it do it better than the machines you can get for $10,000? (Like Axiom claimed.)

:: does it actually fix disc?

And my opinion on both is no. I have done several follow up MRIs both on patients who responded well and patients who did not. And I haven't had any show any significant improvement.

Axiom distinctly told us in Tampa that the DRX what the only machine that performed this so-called spinal decompression. They also said that no other company could use the term in their marketing or claims (that was to take effect in early 2006).

What they actually meant is that they trademarked the term "True Spinal Decompression" and no one else could use that. Who really cares right?

Anyway, there are a bunch of other things, but I don't think this is about Ben Altadonna. I wouldn't exactly call him completely innocent. I know Ben as well and he is not dumb enough to be that close and not know there was a problem.

Listen people it is quite clear who did know that the claimes were false, and that was AXIOM.

One can speculate all you want about what Ben Knew or didn't know. I had no reason to doubt what Axiom told me about the DRX9000, I took it a face value. If I had been Ben, I would have had no reason not to believe what I was told.

People who are staight forward and honest have a flaw. They think that most people are like they are, TRUSTWORTHY. AXIOM did not prove to be trustworthy. Whose falt is that?

Ben Altadonna
has probably helped more doctors succeed than anyone else in the history of our profession. His only problem is that he is extremely humble and shy. But he works his tail off for us and has the best ideas available today.

James "Jim" Gibson Jr former owner of Axiom Worldwide and current owner of SDI (which I'm sure he is not making that public) just lost another lawsuit. Regions bank just won a $1.3 million judgement against him. Here is a man that is involved in major fundraising for places like the Bob Sierra YMCA but yet is not willing to pay is creditors. Its sad because I own a DRX9000 and its an amazing machine.

For those chiropractors who are doing disk decompression, you have, voluntarily, left Chiropractic... the detection and correction of Vertebral Subluxation. Time to straighten up... pun intended.
